The movie Hamon, based on the Naoki prize winning book will star Yokoyama & Kuranosuke as the main characters

Actor Sasaki Kuranosuke (47) and Kanjani8’s Yokoyama Yu (34) will star as the main characters for the movie Hamon (excommunication) to come out in 2017. Based on the best selling book by writer Kurokawa Hiroyuki. Tokyo born Sasaki Kuranosuke will play a yakuza with the worst luck, while Osaka born Yokoyama will play a poor construction consultant, working together for the first time. There will be lots of action and non stop dialogue for non-stop entertainment.

The book is the first in the 疫病神 (god of pestilence) series, it sold more than 100000copies and will now be turned into a movie by director Kobayashi Shoutarou.

The story takes place in Osaka, mad dog yakuza Kuwahara (Sasaki), who ran away with movie investment capital and single unpopular construction consultant Ninomiya (Yokoyama), who’s only talent is talking, will run around Kansai and Makao to recover the money. Halfway through chasing the money they get into trouble together and end up being chased in a do-or-die game. The ‘god of pestilence combi’ will be involved in lots of action.

In order to prepare for the fight scenes Sasaki started getting interested in street fighting. His characters scary face while saying funny dialogue is great! ‘I am really riled up to be in the great and cool original story with the director and Yokoyama.’ he commented.  

For Yokoyama this will be his first starring role in a movie without his bandmates. Yokoyama was fascinated by the original stories overwhelming world view, stating that he would definitely love to be involved. He looks forward to working together with Sasaki, especially looking forward to the ‘boke and tsukomi’ Kansai-like flow.

The producer says that he looks forward to seeing Sasaki playing a yakuza, since he played a feudal lord in his 2014 movie, playing a yakuza was an unexpected choice of role. Yokoyama on the other hand was exactly what he imagined for Ninomiya. He’s looking forward to seeing them act together. Filming is set to start in the latter half of october in Tokyo, Osaka and Makao.
