The Three Guardians of the Pharos

During my game, I pay attention to the landscape a lot in order to take all my screenshots. And I was amazed by this area at the center of the Cerobi Steppe in particular :

@giza-rabbit and @trickstercandy you also thought it was suspicious and that it looked like a boss arena. You know what ? we were right

This is the place where we fight Slyt, the second guardian of the Pharos.

Now this is so best screenshot I could take of the location of the fight against the third guardian Fenrir :

We can see the Paramina Rift way down below, and it is more exactly the  Silverflow’s end area. But the boss location is too high above to see anything from down there. We can recognize the triangular shape and the almond-shaped rock.

And my favorite, the location of the first guardian, the Pandemonium

Here is a cap from the view I had before the fight. It is clearly Nam-Yensa so I looked for the place.

This is the platform where we are before the Pandemonium fight, above the

Withering Shores. Turn around and you see this :

You can recognize the tree with the pink flowers, the two rocks in the sea, the small shore, the three trees in front of the structure, and that rounded rock on the left.

and YES the structure is missing when we are looking for the Pandemonium. I like to think this means the projection we are sent into during each fight are not simple hidden areas, but also a projection from the past.

@skystones @chaoticrice @doctorcid

– Doctor Cid tells baby Ffamran tales of pirates looking for magical stones all around the world as bedtime stories.

– ¾ year old Ffamran sneaking into his father office and gazing at all the gems his father is studying.

– precocious Ffamran learning to read in History Books and encyclopedia.

– 10/12 year old Ffamran exploring Old Archades and finding his way into Sohen Palace.

– He is amazed by the ancient doors and old mechanisms (he somehow manages to dodge the fiends)

– He bursts into his father’s office proud of his discovery of what might be an ancient civilisation. He is welcomed by a slap in the face, Cid is terrified to know his son was all alone in a deadly place.

– 14 year old Ffamran is dreaming of exploring the world, he learns the art of flying and all about airships for this purpose.

– He becomes obsessed with the sky and the stars. He learns the constellations and how to find his way with the help of the stars.

– 16 year old Ffamran has read most of his father’s library and he is frustrated by the biased and limited content in Archades’ Public Library.

– He tries to meet new people to hear foreign stories but Archades is a closed city. He sometimes chats with strangers at the tavern (and learns to enjoy alcohol there)

– He must abandon his passion to train and become a Judge, following his father’s wish. The next years are very lonely and depressing for Ffamran

– When he finally runs away from Archades his passion drives Balthier, free to explore all Ivalice

– In Balfonheim’s tavern Balthier can’t help but staring at the mysterious Viera drinking alone. He knew Viera existed, but texts on their culture are almost inexistant. He gathers his courage and offers her a drink, geniunely asking all sort of questions about her people. They bond as two runaways from their close-minded home.

– They spend their time between the sky, the taverns, their research on old legends, the temples, and the celebrations of a new treasure in their possession
