Modern technology at Downton Abbey // updated (the fridge has been there earlier but the electric one you could actually use in a “modern” household was invented in the 1920s. Radio transmission has been around longer than 1909 but the first radio programme started broadcasting in 1909. Yes, the typewriter is that old but only in the late 19th century did they build the model we see in that pic.)
